Creative Future’s central mission is to increase access and reduce barriers for underrepresented artists and writers.
We actively support and encourage everyone to tell us any additional requirements that we can put in place to support people to take part.
Our commitments and actions include:
- Event and workshop listings show what access provision is already in place.
- Booking forms include space for you to tell us your needs in advance. The more we know, and the further in advance, the better we will be able to accommodate any needs.
- All our work is provided free, at as low cost as possible, and/or with concessionary rates.
- If you require BSL interpretation, please let us know on info@creativefuture.org.uk as soon as possible. We will make every effort to book one, although this is sometimes difficult, especially on less than one month’s notice.
- Presentations or handouts created by our facilitators will be presented on an off-white background in an accessible font (e.g. Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Tahoma).
- Our workshops are all facilitated by people from underrepresented backgrounds with lived experience.
Online Workshops & Events
- Zoom links are sent seven days in advance and again on the day. They include the dial in phone number. Further accessibility information can be found here: https://zoom.us/accessibility/faq#faq1
- All sessions are auto-captioned.
- You are welcome to keep your camera off if preferred.
- You are welcome to take a break if needed, in addition to any scheduled breaks.
- We will send any reading seven days in advance.
- We can create adapted handouts on request, e.g. large print or coloured paper.
- Carers are welcome and do not require additional tickets.
Live Workshops & Events
- All venues are fully accessible.
- All venues are close to transport links that are accessible, and transport information will be provided on our listings.
- Free carer tickets are available.
- You are welcome to take a break if needed, in addition to scheduled breaks.
- We will send through any reading seven days in advance.
- We can create adapted handouts on request, e.g. large print or coloured paper.
- Travel and/or childcare costs can usually be paid or subsidised on request.
For larger events, we will:
- Endeavour to ensure quiet spaces are available and clearly signposted.
- Ensure a full schedule of the day is provided in advance on our website or partner’s website, as well as on arrival.
- Have staff on hand to answer questions and direct people to rooms, breakout spaces and similar.
Website, publications & social media
We make provisions to ensure all audiences can access our online content. These include:
- Alt-text and descriptions of images on our website and social media.
- All video/audio has subtitles or transcripts embedded or available.
- Using plain, simple language in our communications.
- Stating on our website exactly what access provisions are available at our events and workshops.
- Our e-books are compatible with all e-book readers which have adjustable settings.
- Our e-books are compatible with text-to-speech readers.
- To help us make the Creative Future website a positive place for everyone, we've been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.
- Our website has accessibility plugins enabled.
If we haven’t covered something you need, please get it touch and we will do our best to ensure you’re able to access our work.
We welcome and value your feedback and use it to continuously improve. Please contact us on info@creativefuture.org.uk to provide any input you may have. You can also call us on 01273 234780 on Tuesdays, or leave a voicemail and we will return your call.
