Creative Future hosted a free event ‘Meet the Artist: Maria Kuipers.’ Our ‘Meet the Artist/Writer’ series showcases writers and artists from under-represented backgrounds and how they got their work ‘out there’.

Maria Kuipers has been working as a mixed media artist for 27 years. She gained a 1st Class BA Fine Art, regularly exhibits her work and has received several funding awards from South East Arts England for Community Arts Projects, including West Pier Art. She recently won a prize from Georgia Museum of Art, US, for her painting ‘Red Crucifixion’. She is passionate about the ‘Arts and Health Arena’. Having experienced a number of chronic health issues she found the creative process to be an invaluable, cathartic and a powerful therapeutic tool for healing, self development and gaining understanding of art as a visual language.
